HOOC Campaign Update – 26 June
Dear HOOC
Here are the next couple of events to come along too to support our campaign to make sure that we still get our Ice Rink as we have been promised, but not on our Common.
Come along and help get the message out to the rest of Streatham.
See below for information on:
-
Streatham Festival – Big Day Out at the Top of the Common – Saturday, 3rd Jul at 1pm – 6pm
-
Cabaret for Streatham Common – Sunday, 4th July at The Earl Ferrers at 7pm
HOOC stand at the Streatham Festival on 3 July
HOOC will be having a stand on our Common on Saturday, 3 July at the Streatham Festival from 1:00pm to 6:00pm
see:http://www.streathamfestival.com/
We will be finishing our petition (http://www.handsoffourcommon.com/petition) that day, handing out posters, doing a kids' 'hands' petition and maybe flying a 'handsoff' kite, doing a big 'Hands Off' photo opportunity with 'big hands!' and giving out new campaign stickers. There will be lots of information about the campaign and the issues involved and we hope the Press will come along too.
We also know the Streatham Redskins will have a stand and we really want to met them and to partner up with them. Please come along, meet others from the campaign and talk 'Common'!
Cabaret for our Common!
An evening of poetry, music & memories inspired by Streatham Common has been planned as part of the Streatham Festival. The event will celebrate our Common at a time when so many of us are fighting to preserve it.
7pm on Sunday, 4th July at The Earl Ferrers Pub, Ellora Road.
From Vincent Van Gogh's visit in 1873 onwards, our Common has provided inspiration for generations of artists and writers. It has also been the backdrop to the tale of Streatham through the ages – as well as the more personal histories of people who live nearby. We need local writers, residents and musicians to share their stories, memories, music and poems relating to the Common and to support the campaign to preserve our Common for future generations. If you would like to contribute or read a memory or poem (if you would rather not read it yourself we can find someone to do it for you) or have been inspired musically then please get in touch as soon as possible. We'd love to hear from you! See:http://www.streathamfestival.com/cabaret-for-the-common/
