What can I do right now?

Saturday, 29 May – a mini day of action.

Join with other HOOC members and take your posters out on to the High Street and talk to people about what is happening and get them to sign the petition. Bridged will be starting from Streatham Hill, Bingo Hall at 11am and working her way down the High Road to the Common – please feel free to join her or start your own group. Email the campaign and she will give her mobile number if you need it. There are a few A3 posters available if anyone wants one.

The Petition (paper petition will be available on the website by the weekend).

The cut off date for the petition is 22 June, the date set by LBLambeth as the finalisation date for the Streatham Hub tender specification. If would be great if all HOOC members could get 50 signups to the petition. Perhaps your street, your block or your estate, family or friends. Type up those 50 names and email addresses (if you have them) and send them to Bridged on the campaign email address and she will add them to the mailing list. Let Bridged know if the typing is a problem. We will then get the whole petition, already at about 500 to the Full Council of LB Lambeth in July.

Check out the electronic petition on the website. The names and comments are fascinating.

Write to or Contact the relevant Cabinet Members and LBLambeth Regeneration Officers

The HOOC campaign is finding it increasingly difficult to get any information out of LBLambeth about:

    1. Whether they are in negotiation with the Access Self Storage site on the High Road (the old MOD site opposite Baldrey Gardens), who are very interested in hosting the temporary rink on their site but have limited time to make decisions and want to talk to LBLambeth urgently.

    2. What is the time scale and the consultation obligations on the Tesco Planning Application to build on our Streatham Common.

Please write to or contact those individuals below. Ask them what they are doing about this? How are they consulting? Are they negotiating with Access Storage?

Draw their attention to the petition on the website, to see the names and to read the comments there. This will show them that all kinds of Streatham residents feel strongly about this. See: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/handsoffourcommon/signatures

Who are the celebrity residents of Streatham? Should HOOC try and involve them in the campaign?

One of our HOOC members, Zoe, has agreed to work with others to try and contact our local celebrities, but it is too much for one person and she needs help.

Can you tell us who are the local celebrities that we should be? Are you willing to work with Zoe to contact them? Email the campaign if you are willing to help in this.
